Pricing for Long arm quilting varies depending on the type of quilting you would like on your quilt. Rates and descriptions are listed below, if you have any questions feel free to contact me!

Edge to Edge : $0.020 - $0.027 per/sq/inch
Pantograph or Freehand designs vary in price depending on the size and density. Designs run from edge to edge with no regard for block or border placement. Also referred to as an "all over" or "edge to edge".

Semi-Custom : $0.025 - $0.032 per/sq/inch
Same as Edge to edge but only on the body of the quilt. A separate design is chosen for the borders. Up to 3 borders max.

Light Custom : $0.030 - $0.040 per/sq/inch
Consists of an individual design repeated in each block. Usually a continuous line design to avoid multiple starts and stops within each block. Also uses a simple design in sashings and borders. Does not usually include any stitch in the ditch.

Full Custom : $0.040 - $0.060
An individual design used in each block, either repeated or different such as in a sampler quilt. Usually requires one or more starts and stops per block, includes stitch in the ditch around all borders and blocks, a separate sashing and border design.

Heirloom : $0.060 - $0.150
Patterns using intricate grids or background fills, trapunto, or wholecloth designs. Requiring that the quilt be hand marked. This type of quilting is heavy and very time consuming, usually reserved for show quilting.

  • Be sure all seams are secure and quilt top is properly pressed.
  • Clip all extra threads from back of quilt especially if you have a light background. These threads will show.
  • If your borders are pieced, stay stitch around the entire edge of the border to avoid seams coming apart during handling.
  • When using wide backing, leave selvages on.
  • When piecing your backings, be sure there are no selvages in the seam allowance. Making sure that seams run horizontally if at all possible. Selvages may be left on the outer edges.
  • When piecing backings to make "reversible quilts" avoid piecing them in such a way that they need to be perfectly centered in order to look pleasing to the eye when reversed. A more random placement works better here as it is nearly impossible to get the backing perfectly centered on the frame.
  • Backing needs to be a min of 8-10” longer and wider than the quilt top. Most longarm quilters now use grip systems instead of pins to attach the backings to the leaders so a couple more inches is necessary.
  • Backing must be pressed.
  • Batting must be 6” longer and wider that the quilt top.
  • Avoid pre-packaged batting..it tends to have thin/thick spots. Batting cut from a roll is best. If you must use pre-packaged batting, please remove it from the packaging and fluff it in the dryer to remove heavy folds and creases.
  • The 3 layers of your quilt will be loaded independently of each other, please do not pin or baste them together
  • If your Quilt top (and or backing) has a definite TOP, please mark it. It may be clear to you that is the top, but it may not be to your quilter.
